Rag Rugs

Does anybody remember these rag rugs . Very popular in the early 90s . Every quilt show had these rag rug how tos plus jelly rolls and giant blue hooks . I just have some jelly rolls Id like to use in this little rag rug. I have all the makings for one which Id like to make for my kitchen in front of the sink..It gets cold in winter here so I thought it would be a nice idea. These are really good , but take too much patience to make . I no longer have patience for the kitchen much these days..

Moving along on the hexy quilt

Im using Aurifil cotton , 28 for hand sewing and 50 for machine sewing . It is awesome Im loving this thread. No tangles. Using up all my Friendship bundles and charm packs..

Dream quilt

I probably dont need this project but how can I refuse ? It is my background and it is a reminder of both my grandfathers who were a huge influence in my life . They were both in the Navy. One was an Admiral the other a Captain..I love this quilt !! Yankee Candles

No decorating for Fall is complete with out Yankee Candles. They are so strong and delicious. I got 4 mid size tumblers that spiced apple filled the air and the pumpkin sugar is sweet with the Autumn Festival. The Apple Berry is awesome. It is not too pungent and not too appley either..

Went on a little shopping spree

Today was the first beautiful day in south Jersey where the windows could be opened and  nice wind was blowing. I guess yesterdays storm cleaned us out.
So our favorite place to go strolling in Autumn is Haddonfield NJ . It is a quaint historic little town where you can eat or have a nice British pub meal go shopping and see the quilt shop and the British shop. I bought some gifts for the family and some sauces for making British Sheppard's pie . Also some Cornish Pasties for dinner. 

I went to the quilt shop in Haddonfield and bought some threads , fabrics and needles. They were already starting on their Christmas ornaments so I got some of those too. You just put buttons on the little styrofoam balls. You hold them down with applique pins and ribbon top them. I suppose if you need some pins or buttons they are there for the taking :) LOL

Just saw the The Love Letter

The Love Letter movie with Kate Capshaw . It is so funny ! I love the movie and the actors in it. I especially  loved Juliannas super short haircut ..I feel like buzzing mine off just like hers.." Im gonna buzz that man right outta my hair "....

My hexagon paper

As I mentioned before I got my hexy papers , so here is one flower down, and 23 more to go ..I decided to make  24 flowers and applique each one onto a foundation 12 inch block, maybe sash , we will see the outcome first. I will do rows of 4 across  by 6 long, with sashing and borders..The fabric is  Friendship for a Cause and I hope I can find some matching yardage ???

Whats for dinner at your house ???

Yummy good ole Hormel Chilli for us :) Of course I add my own touch, some corn some tomatoes etc. top it with sour cream and no one knows Hormel made it except you and me :) Oh yes, and don't forget shredded cheddar and crackers..It is one of those meals that starts to remind me of Fall..Plus I watched Grumpy Old Men the other day and saw what they gave that poor one eye  bull doggy for dinner ..LOL

Yay ! I got my paper pieces

I looked outside and there was the package I was waiting for in order to continue my hand sewing !! My hubby asked me what would I do if there were no Paperpieces inc. I said Id have to cut up magazines or news papers and make sure (you) cut them accurately !! LOL ...OH what fun . I am really enjoying this . I have 4 charm packs of this fabric and enough papers to make all of them..

Re thinking my quilting ability and style

For someone who has been quilting since 1984 , one would think they have a style or a particular way of doing things , maybe even an inclination towards a certain kind or type of quilt or color of fabric . However , I dont...The more I think about it I have been all over the place with quilting, taken classes from applique to folksy to fast piecing to whatever is new at the time.Do I like modern , or traditional., folk art or prim???

My mind keeps reverting to wanting to do my own thing , whatever that is. I have noticed I have done everybody's class , everybody's colors , and everybody's ways but my own...GOOD GRIEF !!!It's always how some one else taught me to do this.. So I have decided to figure this out , my way !!!Finally ..with out appology or excuses...
